Disneyland Hotel

Talk about nostalgia! The Disneyland Hotel originally opened in 1955 with just 104 rooms, and it's been a Disneyland landmark ever since. Today, the hotel has three themed towers—Adventure, Frontier, and Fantasy—each celebrating one of Disneyland Park's original lands. Throughout the resort, you'll find wonderful Disney memorabilia, classic storytelling touches, beautiful swimming pools, and plenty of nostalgic charm that celebrates Disneyland's history. It's a hotel that celebrates Disneyland's history without feeling stuck in the past.

The lobby and front desk are in the Fantasy Tower, while the Adventure Tower is home to many Club Level rooms and the hotel's imaginative Signature Suites. You'll find several standard suites in the Frontier Tower, which also offers balconies in select rooms and suites. The addition of The Villas at Disneyland Hotel has added even more accommodation options to the resort, though the villas are housed in their own tower and have a very different look and feel.

Outside, three sparkling swimming pools include the popular Monorail-themed waterslides, plus a welcoming fireplace area where you can settle into a comfortable chair in the evening. And then there's Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar, one of my favorite spots at Disneyland Resort, with its tropical atmosphere, imaginative cocktails, and lively outdoor terrace. 

ACCOMMODATIONS

Guest Rooms

Not your standard cookie-cutter hotel rooms, accommodations at the Disneyland Hotel range from 364 to 415 square feet, depending on the configuration, and vary across the three towers. The rooms have a cheerful blue-and-gold color scheme, subtle striped wallpaper, and carpeting with a fireworks motif, although they are ready for an upgrade. My favorite feature is still the Sleeping Beauty Castle headboard, which lights up and plays When You Wish Upon a Star with the flip of a switch. It's one of those delightful Disney touches that never gets old.

Rooms come with either two queen beds or one king, and some have a daybed to accommodate up to five guests. Additional furnishings include a comfortable easy chair, a small desk and chair, a three-drawer bureau, and a flat-screen television. The bathrooms are particularly interesting because layouts vary from room to room. During one stay in the Frontier Tower, our room had a split bathroom configuration: the bathtub and toilet on one side of the entry hall, and a separate vanity and closet on the other. You'll also notice Mickey-shaped details on some bathroom fixtures, a fun reminder that you're staying at Disneyland. Additional amenities include a refrigerator, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, makeup mirror, and electronic safe. 

Views vary: Standard View rooms overlook the front or back of the resort, including some parking areas, while Deluxe View rooms face the central pool courtyard. Premium View rooms offer elevated views of the pool area, and Premium Downtown Disney View rooms look toward the Downtown Disney District. If you're hoping for a balcony, request a room in the Frontier Tower, particularly on the upper floors or in certain corner locations. I remember staying in a 14th-floor room that was technically classified as a Standard View because it overlooked the parking lot, yet it also had an incredible view of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disney California Adventure Park, Cars Land, and the surrounding area. Club Level - High Note Lounge

Guests staying in Club Level accommodations enjoy access to the High Note Club, located on the 11th floor of the Adventure Tower. From this elevated vantage point, you'll find spectacular views of Disneyland Resort, including the mountains of several of the park's classic attractions. Better yet, it's a wonderful place to watch the Disneyland fireworks, complete with the accompanying music. The lounge was completely renovated in 2025, replacing the former E-Ticket Club with a much larger space inspired by the music and sounds of Disneyland Park's early years. It's a fun theme for a concierge lounge, and the extra space makes it more comfortable for spending time throughout the day.

Breakfast offers a generous selection, including fresh fruit, pastries, bagels, Mickey waffles, oatmeal, smoked salmon, cheeses, eggs, and other morning favorites. Throughout the afternoon, you'll find snacks, fruit, chips, pretzels, cookies, and assorted beverages. The evening Magic Hours offerings are more substantial, with cheeses, cold appetizers, and hot dishes that might include chicken taquitos, mini pot pies, empanadas, or other selections. The evening also offers beer and wine, plus a Nespresso machine in the lounge. Later, Sweet Dreams brings an assortment of desserts, from brownies and cookies to more elaborate sweets.

I especially enjoy watching the fireworks from the lounge, particularly after a long day in the parks. It's a wonderful alternative to finding a viewing spot inside Disneyland, and having refreshments available makes it even more enjoyable. Additional Club Level amenities include concierge assistance, robes, bottled water, and nightly turndown service. Club Level guest rooms are available with different views, including Standard View accommodations overlooking the pool and Premium View, higher-floor rooms facing Downtown Disney.

Suites

The Disneyland Hotel has some of the most imaginative Signature Suites anywhere at Disney. Located on the 11th floor of the Adventure Tower, these suites take their inspiration from classic Disney stories and attractions, with elaborate furnishings, themed bathrooms, and plenty of surprises. They differ from the more traditional luxury suites at the Grand Californian, and each has its own personality.

The hotel also offers standard suites in several configurations across its three towers, though layouts and views can vary considerably. Some have balconies, while others don't, so look closely at the specific suite you're considering rather than assuming they'll all be alike.

Adventureland Suite

Don't jump when the doorbell rings at the Adventureland Suite—it's only the sound of drums in deepest, darkest Africa! This wonderfully themed suite takes its inspiration from the spirit of adventure, with tribal masks lining the walls, Oriental rugs over rich wood flooring, a leather-tufted sleeper sofa, and monkey- and elephant-themed curios. There's even a drum-style cocktail table, a cozy draped sleeping alcove, and a television cleverly hidden behind a painting above the fireplace. A hidden closet behind a faux bookcase adds to the fun, with the entire suite evoking the atmosphere of an old-fashioned British colonial safari.

The adjoining dining area has a table for six set on a zebra-patterned rug, plus a striking wet bar with a tiger's-eye countertop. Nearby is an additional full bathroom with a copper vessel sink and a generously sized shower. The primary bedroom continues the safari theme with expedition helmets, explorer maps, a four-poster king bed, Oriental rugs, and a claw-foot bathtub in the sleeping area. The primary bathroom is especially impressive, with dual sinks, a built-in mirror TV, and a rock-lined steam shower and whirlpool tub with rainforest sound effects.

The guest bedroom resembles a luxurious safari tent, complete with canvas wall coverings, rustic furnishings, and a king bed. Another beautiful bathroom features natural stone, vessel sinks, rough-hewn faucets, and tribal-inspired mirrors. The suite offers 1,800 square feet, accommodates five guests, and features lovely pool views, though it has no balcony. Fairy Tale Suite

The Fairy Tale Suite is a princess's dream come true. At only 725 square feet, it may lack size, but it more than makes up for it in pure charm. And who greets you on arrival? None other than Tinker Bell, with a sprinkling of pixie dust in the entry hall. Just wait until you see it!

A few steps lead down into the bedroom, where shimmering silver fabrics, beautiful carpeting, and a luxuriously draped canopy bed create a wonderfully romantic setting. There's also a silky chaise lounge, perfect for resting royalty. At the touch of a button, a wall of curtains opens to reveal a magical view of Disneyland Resort and the nighttime fireworks. Even the television won't spoil the view, since you can raise or lower it remotely from the bureau.

The enormous white marble bathroom is every bit as fanciful, with a mosaic of Sleeping Beauty Castle above a whirlpool tub flanked by Corinthian columns. Shooting stars twinkle above the double sinks, while a makeup vanity, marble mosaics, and a steam shower enclosed in frosted glass complete the room. A television is even hidden in the vanity mirror. This dreamy hideaway sleeps just two guests, making it a particularly memorable choice for a special occasion.

Big Thunder Suite

The Old West is alive and kicking in the Big Thunder Suite! This two-bedroom beauty features a doorbell that sounds like a wolf's howl, a foyer with the sounds of a runaway mine train, stone columns, repurposed barnwood flooring and paneling, and Navajo-style rugs. Rustic and luxurious furnishings fill the living room, with a stone gas fireplace as the centerpiece and a television hidden above it. A leather sleeper sofa, oversized chairs, and antique mining accessories add to the atmosphere, while a wagon-wheel chandelier hangs over the six-person dining table.

The nearby wet bar is decorated with copper accents and a whimsical gold miner photograph, and even the half bath gets into the spirit with a copper bucket sink, lantern-style lighting, and a pull-chain toilet. There's no balcony, but the oversized windows offer lovely views of the resort's swimming pools.

The primary bedroom features a king bed with a leather-and-wood headboard, a writing desk, a comfortable chair, and an entertainment center. But it's the bathroom that really stands out. Enter through a sliding barn door to find a freestanding copper tub set in a stone alcove, a pebble-lined shower, copper vessel sinks, and a separate toilet area. On the other side of the living room, the second bedroom has a fun 1950s cowboy theme, with a queen bed and its own bathroom. The suite measures approximately 1,450 square feet and sleeps six guests. Pirates of the Caribbean Suite

In the whimsical two-bedroom Pirates of the Caribbean Suite, don't jump when the doorbell rings with Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me. It's tough enough getting that tune out of your head after riding the Disneyland attraction, let alone hearing it every time someone comes to the door! Inside, wooden beams and plank flooring set the scene, along with Spanish colonial-style furnishings, rich area rugs, heavy red-and-gold brocade draperies, potted palms, and a comfortable leather sofa. A rustic dining table seats eight, while the adjoining wet bar makes entertaining easy. The fireplace flickers with realistic flames, and a Jolly Roger painting above it cleverly conceals the television. Pirate memorabilia is scattered throughout the suite, including maps, figurines, model ships, and even a replica of Davy Jones's Dead Man's Chest.

The primary bedroom, aptly named the Captain's Quarters, features a half-canopied king bed draped in red-and-gold brocade, an armoire, and comfortable seating. The bathroom is just as elaborate, with ornate vanity mirrors, double sinks, a whirlpool tub, and a steam shower. The second bedroom has two double beds, pirate-themed bed runners, a treasure-chest entertainment center, and its own bathroom. There's also an additional bathroom for guests. The suite measures approximately 1,770 square feet and sleeps four, with views of the pool from a stand-up French balcony. Mickey Mouse Penthouse

Talk about a big cheese—you won't believe the Mickey Mouse Penthouse! This colorful two-bedroom suite offers 1,725 square feet, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and Mickey Mouse memorabilia in practically every nook and cranny. The décor is modern and playful, with a charcoal, white, red, and yellow color scheme that's quite different from the other Signature Suites. The views are wonderful, stretching across Disneyland Resort, with the fireworks visible from the suite.

The spacious living room has hardwood floors, soft gray-and-white area rugs, contemporary furnishings, and a wall of animator pencil drawings of Mickey himself. A glowing Mickey-shaped light fixture hangs overhead. An adjoining dining room seats six in Mickey-inspired chairs, while a bright cherry-red wet bar features Mickey-ear-etched mirrors, white leather barstools, and even a Mickey Mouse telephone.

In the primary bedroom is a king bed with a red leather headboard surrounded by Mickey Mouse maquettes. Its bathroom features an oversized steam shower with multiple jets, a deep whirlpool tub, and a double vanity finished in rich, milk-chocolate-colored granite. The second bedroom is especially fun for children, with a Sorcerer Mickey theme, a round bed, a cozy sleeping nook, a television, and colorful décor. Standard One-Bedroom Suites

Many of the Disneyland Hotel's standard one-bedroom suites are located on the 14th floor of the Frontier Tower and include a balcony. Views vary, with some overlooking the swimming pools and others facing the parking area and Disney California Adventure Park. These suites aren't nearly as elaborately themed as the Signature Suites, but they offer considerably more room and can be a good choice for families who want a separate living area.

Near the entry, a half bath features a black granite countertop, plus a wet bar with a sink, under-counter refrigerator, and three white leather barstools. The parlor has a sleeper sofa, easy chair, desk, flat-screen television, and access to a Plexiglas-enclosed balcony. The separate bedroom features a king bed with the hotel's illuminated Sleeping Beauty Castle headboard, an easy chair, and an entertainment center. The primary bathroom has double sinks, with the bathtub, shower, and toilet in a separate area. These suites do not include Club Level amenities, but you can request them upon arrival for an additional fee.
